Aishwarya Rai spoke about her 1999 film Aa Ab Laut Chalen in an old interview, saying that she and Akshaye Khanna had a lot at stake together. The Miss World 1994 winner claimed that she was written off by a portion of the industry and the media, explaining why she made the statement.
The media had labeled Aishwarya a ‘cold fish’ and a ‘non-actress,’ and even claimed that she was ‘in dreadful shape.’ However, despite these negative comments, the actor stated that she was receiving at least two offers every day and was “hassle-free.” She preferred to take her time before making any decisions, and the faith that the producers, directors, and distributors exhibited in her kept her going.
When asked if being called a non-actress bothered her, Aishwarya replied, “Boy, it does. Just give me some space. I’ll disprove everyone because I’m growing every day. I’m really enjoying the time of my life right now.” The belief that the filmmakers, producers, and distributors had in her was what kept her motivated.
Aishwarya gave an example of her dedication to her craft. In the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, she had to work up a sweat for a tearjerking moment. Although they were expecting a long day, the sequence was approved in one take, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali added a second take out of precaution. He was impressed that Aishwarya performed the piece without any fanfare, assuming that it would be difficult for her to express the feelings because she had never experienced agony or sadness. Aishwarya suggested that people might view her life as a fairy tale, but she was also human.
In 2007, Aishwarya married Abhishek Bachchan in Mumbai, and they have a daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, who turned 11 last year. Aishwarya’s latest film is the Tamil film Ponniyin Selvan by Mani Ratnam, which was released in 2022. The film features Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi.
