Hailey Bieber expresses grief over Nashville school shooting Following the tragic shooting at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, which claimed the lives of six people, including three children, Hailey Bieber took to her Instagram stories to express her heartbreak. According to BBC, the three children who lost their lives were aged nine or under, and the adults were staff members at the school. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Audrey Hale, was an ex-student of the same school and has a degree in design.
Hailey shared a statistic related to firearms and children’s deaths in the US, which was posted by Every Town Research on her Instagram story. The post read, “Firearms are the #1 leading cause of death for American children and teens.” Hailey added a caption that said, “Let that sink in…(heartbreak emoji)”.
Hailey advocates for gun control regulations In another post, Hailey shared a tweet by Peter Frampton that advocated for tight gun control regulations. The tweet mentioned the 1996 Dunblane Primary School shooting in Scotland, in which 16 children and a teacher were killed. The UK government responded by enacting tight gun control legislation, and in the 9400+ days since, there have been no school shootings in the UK.
Hailey expresses gratitude towards Selena Gomez In addition to expressing her grief over the school shooting, Hailey recently thanked Selena Gomez for defending her against apparent trolling and death threats following an eyebrow drama. Hailey wrote on her Instagram story, “I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing the last few weeks about how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I.” She added that social media can create extreme division and that things can be taken out of context or constructed differently from what they were intended.
