In Aberdeenshire, Dame Judi Dench and Sharleen Spiteri gave a Hogmanay performance for hotel guests.
In a video posted on Twitter, the two could be seen singing along to Abba’s Waterloo at The Fife Arms in Braemar.
The well-known chorus is performed by Ms. Spiteri, with Dame Judi occasionally singing in the background and pretending to play the pianola.
The Texas frontwoman then appears astounded by the Oscar winner’s musical talent and exclaims, “What a pianist!”
They shared the piano seat for the duration of the spontaneous performance, which followed a supper and ceilidh at the venue.
Ewan Venters, the CEO of Artfarm, which owns The Fife Arms, posted the video on social media, and it immediately racked up thousands of views.
He claimed that the reception to the hotel’s self-playing piano performance was “joyful.”
He remembered that while Judi Dench and Sharleen Spiteri were hotel guests, we had an unexpected time at the piano.
“There were lots of guests, and the crowd cheered enthusiastically.”
He claimed that the two began singing just before the midnight fireworks.
He noted that a traditional Hogmanay event was held at the Fife Arms.
Both the boisterous ceilidh and the four-course meal at the hotel were sold out.
