Ryan Gosling Shuts Down Critics of His Role as ‘Barbie’s Ken’

Ryan Gosling Responds to Critics of His Role as ‘Barbie’s Ken’

Actor Ryan Gosling has addressed the criticism surrounding his portrayal of Ken in the upcoming Barbie movie. The 42-year-old actor dismissed the notion that he is “too old” for the role in a recent interview, delivering a strong response to the detractors.

Gosling responded, saying, “If people don’t want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with,” referring to the diverse cast chosen by director Gerwig, including Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, John Cena, and others who portray different versions of the iconic character in the film.

The Oscar nominee also pointed out the irony of the backlash, stating, “It’s funny, this idea of clutching your pearls and saying ‘not my Ken.’ Did anyone ever really think about Ken before this? Suddenly, people claim to have cared about Ken all along, when in reality, nobody did.”

Gosling further emphasized that the lack of interest in Ken’s character over the years reveals the hypocrisy of those now expressing discontent. He asserted, “If you truly cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken. So your hypocrisy is exposed. This is why his story must be told.”

Meanwhile, actress Margot Robbie, who co-stars in the film, praised Gosling’s performance as Ken. During a press conference, she declared that Gosling’s portrayal at the age of 42 is “the greatest version of Ryan Gosling ever put on screen.”

With his insightful remarks and support from his co-stars, Ryan Gosling remains undeterred by the criticism surrounding his role as Ken in the upcoming Barbie movie. Audiences eagerly anticipate seeing his portrayal and the exploration of Ken’s character in this unique adaptation.
