Tamil producer SS Chakravarthy, known for producing several blockbuster films in Kollywood, passed away on Saturday after battling a long-term illness.
The producer, who was associated with NIC Arts production house, had produced nearly 20 films with popular stars such as Ajith Kumar, Vikram, and Simbu. He is best known for producing 9 films of Ajith Kumar, including Vaali, Mugavaree, Citizen, Red, Villain, Anjaneya, Ji, and Varalaru, which were all box office hits. He also launched his son, Imran Chakravarthy, in the industry and produced his debut film Renigunta, followed by 18 Vayasu.
In addition to producing, SS Chakravarthy also made his acting debut in 2015’s Thopi and recently appeared as a police officer in the web series Vilangu. The last rites of the producer will be held in Chennai.
