MUMBAI, A video recently went viral in which a crowd wearing saffron scarfs is seen disrupting and cleaning out a showing of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bachchhan Paandey’.
According to Indian media sources, the crowd forced the showing of the Bollywood film to a halt and requested the presentation of ‘The Kashmir Files.’
While this event was caught on video, it is not the first time theatre owners have encountered this problem. According to a news website, one exhibitor said that groups of between ten and one hundred individuals are causing a commotion on the grounds. One such group clashed with theatre employees, alleging that a sequence had been omitted from the film.
Over the weekend, Akshay’s film suffered a battering. The film grossed around Rs 34 crore in its first weekend. Meanwhile, ‘The Kashmir Files’ has amassed an estimated revenue of Rs 180 crore in only 11 days.
