Hailie Jade Mathers Scott’s fiancé talked about the process of asking renowned musician Eminem for permission to marry his daughter, whom he shares with his ex-wife Kim Scott.
The 27-year-old’s Evan McClintock proposed to her earlier this month after six years of dating.
McClintock, 27, said, “Over the holidays, I was looking for a chance not to make it too apparent,” in the most recent episode of his fiancée’s “Just a Little Shady” podcast.
Although McClintock admitted that he had been thinking about proposing since last summer, he didn’t actually do it until February 4.
He also asserted that since the rapper Eminem’s daughter’s birthday falls on Christmas Day, it was the perfect time to snare the rapper, whose actual name is Marshall Mathers, and ask him for his permission.
“I had to do it right away, or I’m not doing it today, and I’m going to have to plan another time,” McClintock recalled as she watched your father go downstairs.
I simply followed him downstairs, and fortunately, he was already there getting your dessert, so I was able to make it happen.
Finding the ideal ring, however, was a totally separate problem.
McClintock began searching for the perfect diamond sparkler on Thanksgiving, but thanks to Hailie’s sister, Alaina Marie Scott, he found the perfect ring.
“You got it, the day after my birthday?” Hailie remarked, “That’s crazy; I had no clue he was going to go look at rings.”
She chuckled, “That’s all I told her, so it makes sense.”

Hailie announced the couple’s engagement in a sweet Instagram picture, writing, “casual weekend recap… 2.4.23,” as they popped champagne.
The pair met for the first time in 2016 at Michigan State University.
Fiancé McClintock first appeared on Hailie Jade’s Instagram account in December 2016, when they celebrated her happy birthday together.
