On Monday, the Princess of Wales started a series of events to celebrate her new campaign, “Shaping Us.” You could be forgiven for thinking that her tailored red trouser suit (by McQueen, of course) caught everyone’s attention, but at British Vogue’s beauty desk, all we’ve been talking about is Kate’s new hair color.

She has always been a beautiful brunette with thick hair, but for the event, the Princess of Wales showed off a darker, richer color. This was a big deal for her because she was revealing a personal project to the world. She changed from her usual warm chestnut brown to a darker, cooler, and more chocolate-y shade. As she talked to people at BAFTA HQ, she looked calm, confident, and in control.
The Princess gave the popular mocha chocolate hair color trend, which Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski have both tried, a royal twist. Her hair looked expensive, shiny, and very healthy. Jenna Perry, a celebrity hair colorist, once called it a “deep seductive brown” and said it looked like rich chocolate mousse. What’s the best? Perry said that it was “flattering to everyone.”
The Princess’s new shade is perfect for winter because it makes Kate’s skin look even better and draws attention to her dark features. If you give a woman good hair, she can take over the world.
