Could Dwayne Johnson, AKA The Rock, Make a Comeback at WrestleMania 40?

The WWE’s devoted followers have been eagerly anticipating a thrilling match between Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, and Roman Reigns for several years now. While there were rumours last year that The Rock might return to the ring at WrestleMania 39, those plans were eventually scrapped due to his movie projects and other professional commitments. However, the latest reports suggest that Dwayne Johnson might make his comeback at WrestleMania 40.

Could Dwayne Johnson Make an Appearance at WrestleMania 40?

According to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer, WWE is hoping that Dwayne Johnson will return to the ring at WrestleMania 40. The Wrestling Observer Radio suggested that The Rock left a possibility open after declining an offer to return to the ring in Los Angeles. “When he turned down this year due to schedule, Dwayne Johnson left a crack in the door open about possibly doing Philadelphia at WrestleMania 40 next year. But that was far from a commitment and certainly nothing anyone should count on happening,” said Dave Meltzer.

The Rock at WrestleMania

For those unfamiliar with the situation, The Rock’s last full-fledged single match was at WrestleMania 29 in 2013, where he lost to John Cena. Later, The People’s Champion faced Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32, but the match lasted only six seconds. Dwayne ‘Rock’ Johnson made a brief appearance at the 20th Anniversary of SmackDown in 2019. It was previously believed that Johnson might return to the Royal Rumble 2023, win it, and then compete at WrestleMania 39. However, those reports were later debunked.
